to pitch (this word is also a verb)

  • to pitch an idea to somebody

  • to pitch for funds/capital/investment/support/business (try to persuade someone to provide you that)

  • When the house owner opened the door, I quickly started pitching my product to him, but he did not listen and just shut the door in my face.
